so the 1 is equal to 5.1 and so on up to 13? if so that sure was a stupid question. I wanted to know the yds because every once in a while i go there to really push myself and i wanted to know the grade i was climbing so that i could go back to another route of equal or lesser value and know that i've done a route like this before.

That's a good qustion. I've heard that there is a pseudo-YDS scale for the climbs, but the people who "developed??" the area rated the climbs based upon the difficulty relative to the other climbs (at least that's my understanding). So, 2 is more difficult than 1, 3 more than 2, and so on. I think that the SLCA (or is it SLCC) has requested that whoever paints the numbers and other grafitti to quit. It really is an eyesore. Make sure and check out the bouldering in LCC, too, it's phenomenal!
