My partner and I will be in the Reno/Tahoe area and would like to set up a climbing and hiking/backpacking trip. We have 3 days (Sun-Weds). Ideal situation--day 1: hike in (say 10-12 mi max), day 2 climb near camp, day 3 hike out. We are happy with anything from 5.6-5.9. Can anyone offer suggestions? We have our own wheels, but they are only 2wd. Also we are coming from WA, so anything within 1/2 day drive North of 80 would be acceptable since we will be on our way home after this. Thanks in advance!

Ok, so Lyons Lake in Desolation Wilderness looks very promising-- a 5 mi hike in, several 5.7-5.9 routes. I see we need permits to overnight--are those tough to come by? What about permits to climb--are those required? Any comments about this area/these climbs? Thanks!
