Hey, so I grew up climbing. I joined the military 7 years ago and havent climbed much since then. I moved to San Francisco, and none of my climbing partners moved with. some guys that work with me wanna try it, we went to Mt. Diablo today, but only found stuff around 5.10-5.11 range. it was fun for me but they didnt have such a good time. Is there anywhere in the Bay area that has good fun easy climbs? thanks for any help.

Mount Tamalpais and Stinson Beach in Marin County have some climbing areas. There is also a nice boulder off Paradise drive between East Corte Madera and Tiburon, overlooking the Richmond San Rafael Bridge part of the Bay. I don't remember the name of the road you turn off to drive up to it, but its only a few hundred feet from the end of the paved road. In Berkeley, there is a place called Indian Rock. There are a number of climbing / bouldering areas up the coast in Sonoma County (Russian River / Jenner Area) as well (Goat Rock, Twin Coves, Secrets Cove, Sunset Boulders, Blind Beach, Dry Creek Sea Crag, Marshall Gulch, and Gualala State Park). See the following web site for some pictures and descriptions of these areas: http://climbingsonomacounty.homestead.com/coast.html. Yosemite is a bit of a drive, but well worth the trip on a long weekend.

There are a few moderate routes at Diablo: Amazing face on the lower tier 5.8-4.9 Butt Rock has 3 routes 5.7-5.9 But asside from that, I'd say a trip to the pinnacles when the weather is cooler is well worth it. On the west side there is costanoan, only 5.4 but at 4 pitches it's well worth doing. On the East Side the discovery wall has several moderate routes.

The turn off to Split Rock and Turtle Rock from Paradise Drive is Taylor Road in Tiburon.
