do you have to worry about rattlesnakes in the summer months? is this why they say go in the fall season?

No, you don't have to worry about rattlesnakes. They suggest not going in the summer just because it's hot and the mosquitos and black flies are relentless. Eric

It used to be loaded with timber rattlers (1800s maybe?), but the vast majority of them were wiped out by the original settlers. There are apparently some still there, but sightings are so rare that I've never heard of one.

they say it is more crowded in the fall so i was thinking about going in the summer but hate snakes. this makes me feel better

snakes are probably one thing one doesn't have to worry about in NH or ME (definitely not in ME).
