The man was in a league of his own, I read his work over 30 years ago. A great writer and climber.

A great climber, a great alpinist, who was screwed by his country. Seemed like he carried the chip on his shoulder forever after. In the end, though, his accomplishments were recognized, and I hope he was able to appreciate the recognition he deserved in Italy.
