You could send them to me and I could check them out and you could at least have some consensus....
The big question is if people will negatively impact the area if it is published. Small, selective publications would have less impact than say a book that is available worldwide...

I'd erase this post and never speak of it again.

In the words of Alexander Supertramp:

"Happiness is real only when shared."

Yes Big Bear is a busy place, but I don't think that it gets as much traffic as the big California attractions, but I may be wrong. And, with Holcomb and Castle Rock, etc abound, the areas you describe may not become so busy in the end.

hi joe, there's still to much boldering to develop in that area i'd wait to publish found out more about the area before exposing it, having a understanding and knowledge of your impact on the area will give a scale of what the impact on area would possible be, and giving you more info to make a wiser decision on weather you should expose that area.

screw Matt Smith! he's a scum beg thats ruining a beautiful climbing area.

I would open it up a bit,
unless you are an exceptionally well rounded climber there will be a style issue.
For example maybe you overlooked highballs, or lowballs, or aretes, or face, or reachy stuff, or powerful moves, or dynos.

The more developers there are the more an area can be rounded out with problems of different style.
Back at Rumbling Bald in NC you could tell a bunch of people developed, not just one guy.

just my opinion of course.
and i may have to hit you up some time as i'm only 2 hours away.

I think the first thing to do is get over it and realize that not that many people even care. In fact do the opposite, release the beta and advertise the crap out of it and see if you can even get a solid number of people even out there.

So who are the people to care? First off those who boulder (a percentage of climbers), second the adventurous and willing (which sadly is an even smaller percentage!). It's sad but it seems most climbers want easy access, readily available beta, and most importantly media coverage of the area by magazines and pro climbing videos showing of the "sick knar classic v14 route that only 20 people can do!"

I know of several areas that the popularity of the area and the problems there didn't increase until the pros started posting videos of their projects there. That's when hordes of out of town folks started showing up looking for "oh yeah that one route dave grahm did in that one movie.... sick man".

My son lives up there and I climb up there. I would like to know where the boulders are. I vote release the info.
