Just wondering if there were ever inflatable crash pads... one reason I'd be interested is that it takes up less space in my apt... the only thing is that it would have to be reinflated after each fall... solar pump?

Do some research on the science behind how closed cell and open cell foam (which is what is in crash pads and running shoes for that matter) absorb impact. You'll probably answer your own question. Peace.

andre boldrini (sp?) makes inflatable pads that are much easier to store although way more expensive and apparently near impossible to get over there in the states

reminds me of waaay back when the then GF convinced me to get rid of my foosball table - despite it's alternative role as my dining room table...
in hindsight, i should have kept the table...

8A.nu marketed an inflatable pad before put stopped production due to manufacturing cost and some difficulties with the manufacturer.
The cost about 400€ so they were quite expensive.
I have tested it and it works pretty good, REALLY large and rolls away to a neat little bundle. There is a highpressure valve that is supposed to reduce bounce but didn´t work that well.
Airpads definitaly have their place, they work ok alone but really shines when used together with normal style pads.

I have used inflatable pool rafts and can recommend them to some degree. The key is not over inflate it, as they tend to burst if you do that. Also, make sure to get the tougher canvas type, you don't want one of the plastic ones you see at Walmart with Sponge Bob on them or something, they are no good at all! I speak from experience when I say they will not survive one short fall from even a 75lb climber. Make sure to bring a foot pump as well as you may need to dial in the P.S.I. as the day goes on. One of the coolest things about this is at the end of the day if the bouldering is near a swimming hole you already have the dopest chill spot around!

GET A FLASHED RONIN!!! Ive had mine for years. Its amazing. My friends beg me to bring it when we climb because its so soft to land on. Comes with a compression sack and can be compressed to the same size as my 45L crag pack.
