Well last night I decided to see how I have progressed as we have had a lot of new routes set. I picked a 5.8 and actually got it on my first attempt. That is all I just wanted to share

Nice job! Continue to work on your footwork and body positioning and you'll keep improving quickly.

Good job dude. Or lady. Whichever. I can't tell by your name. Just that you're a Picasso fan.

I am infact male as well as a Picaso fan...thanks to everyone that has congratulated me. I've been climbing for just a few months now and am very pleased with my progress both on routes and bouldering. G

So this seemed like a good place to ask this. I've been climbing(bouldering) for 2 months and just did my first v1 today. I was wondering how long it typically takes for people to get up to around v4/v5?

What's up everyone...I haven't been on in a while as I started a new job and my computer access has dropped as well as my time available to climb. I did how ever get to the gym last night and tried 3 5.8+ routes, I made 2 of them but missed the one that required a heelhook on an overhang while utilizing an undercling. It looks like I just don't have that move in my bag quite yet

Tried the 8+ with the heel hook while on undercling again tonight but still couldn't pull it off. I think I was closer and I'm confident I'll get it soon

A few hundred years ago, Henry Barber said to me, "keep doing those routes (5.8) over and over again. Try to move smoothly, stay in balance and watch your footwork". I might add, control your breathing and be aware of your heatbeat. Do that one climb, over and over and over, but climb it smoother and smoother and smoother. Once you feel that you're really calm and have it pretty wired pick another facet of technique to work on, foot work, breathing, body positon, etc. Once you get ALL 5.8s wired, move on to 5.9 and on and on and on. Good luck!
