Perhaps. Tunisia just had their first public election with 80+% turnout in some areas. And while the "moderate islamists" won (time will tell how moderate they actally are), it was a free and seemingly fair election. Thats monumental and hopefully they can keep it going. If any country can establish a stable democracy that holds valid elections consistently over the years, I think they will eventually trend towards the middle. Globalization is inevitable and they too will enter the fold.
