...the "Whiney Liberals'" forum. Of course, we can expect the usual cast of characters to whine incessantly, so it would probably get pretty predictable and boring pretty soon....so, nevermind.

Thing is, I would wager that the majority of those who frequent this forum are more centrist than far right or for left... But, for those who are on one extreme of the other, like yourself Eric, see only allies and enemies... If they don't think just like you, they are an enemy. There is no middle ground for you, as you just cannot recognize or understand compromize. You, on the far right, are just as closed minded as those on the far left, where the answers are most often somewhere in the middle, a place you just bring yourself to explore. There really is an irony in your post, but you cannot see it, because you ARE on one extreme... You are the other EQUAL extreme of "Whiney Liberal". Myself, I'm a centrist that leans just a little bit on the conservative side.

I always get confused by the right's (and America's) definition of liberal. John Locke argued "that the rule of law should replace absolutism in government, that rulers were subject to the consent of the governed, and that private individuals had a fundamental right to life, liberty, and property." (Wikipedia of course). That sound pretty American to me. That is essentially the core of liberalism. Your American two-party-system creates a wonky attitude along the line of Adam's explanation which could be described as ultra liberals (Republicans) and everyone else. Personally I think we liberals should campaign for a new name... "the Reasonables" or "Engaged Brains before Putting Mouth into Gears" or even "We'll Even Listen to the Idiots"... Then again, we Canadians have 5 federal parties and the Liberals are 2nd from the right, so what the hell do I know...

Do you even know what you are talking about, Eric? Or, are you just parroting what you think liberal means based on some 'far right' (I.e., EXTREMIST) talking heads (E.g., Rush, Glenn, Pat, Sarah, et al)? Here, let me try to help you:
In reply to: LIBERALISM lib-er-al-ism noun Definition of LIBERALISM 1: the quality or state of being liberal 2: a: often capitalized: a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity b: a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard c: a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties; specifically: such a philosophy that considers government as a crucial instrument for amelioration of social inequities (as those involving race, gender, or class) d: capitalized: the principles and policies of a Liberal party http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/liberalism "Christian"... "Protection of Civil Liberties"... "Equality"... Those nasty heathen Liberals promote and stand for sume bad stuff, huh?. But you can't even recognize any of this, can you? Nope... See reply by 'macblaze' above yours, as reason eludes you. You really are incapable of applying it.

Appealing to Eric's reason. What he "knows" is apparent in just this thread, let alone almost every post and reply he makes. Incapable of articulation, reason, or logic... Just ignore, deny, and repeat the same old stuff, ad nauseam (To a disgusting or ridiculous degree; to the point of nausea) Like Mark Twain said: "The trouble with the world isn't that people know too little, but that they know so much that just ain't so."

To you, conservatives are "vocal," and liberals are "whiny." There's an inherent bias in your perspective. Of course, there's one in mine, too, but I at least know it exists and try, albeit unsuccessfully sometimes, to tamp it down.
