Sew/glue/tape?
I have one I glued/backed with duct tape. Came out pretty well.

I coiled them up like I wanted them to look. Next I sewed a stitch into the end to hold it in place. Then I put 2 tubes of all purpose caulking all over the back and put foam no slip material on top of the caulking and mashed it down. Let it dry a few days and flipped over. They came out pretty good.

One trick for making these types of rugs look kind of nice is to put a big decorative turks head knot in the middle.

The way I have done it is with two ropes. First take about 3 or 4 meters of the end from each rope and cut a tiny hole in the sheath, just enough to pull a core strand through. It should be around 4 sheath strands depending on how big they are. Pull out about 3/4 of the core strands from between the hole and the end of the rope and cut them. This makes the end very soft and flexible so you can weave it without having an inch high rug. Then weave the ends into a turk's head. I like to have 5 corners on it with about 4 passes total, 2 from each rope. If there is a hole left in the middle, you can coil the remainder of the rope into a smaller spiral in that hole. After that you can spiral the remainder around in a circle around the knot. It makes for a sort of nautical theme to your rug.

Here is what the turk's head looks like. I don't have any photos of the finished rug though.

Here is another one I made out of 7 spirals from some old climbing gym ropes. I used the same trick of pulling out core strands to be able to fill in the voids between the circles with mostly sheath.

Oh yeah, the other trick is to ramp up the saturation and contrast of your photos to make things look happier.

That set of connected circles is very nice! You have an artistic sensibility.

Wow, I watched that entire video and now I really want to make one! Does anyone have some old climbing rope they don't want?

I make rug rope and then cover it with cotton rolls as they hurt a lot plainly.
