We're trying to get our own gear to be able to do some outdoor climbing (have done some outdoor guided trips, but haven't set up top roping system yet and this is what we'd like to do), but wanted an instructor/experienced climber to help us using our own equipment. It seems like most outdoor climbing classes are done for the season, does anyone know private instructors or classes that might still be open for the Great Falls area or anywhere within 2-3 hours of NoVa? There are 2 of us, we're relatively beginner.

Try contacting Jason at Sportrock he may be able to do a private class for ya'll: jason@sportrock.com Or the equivalent at Earthtreks: https://www.earthtreksclimbing.com/private-instruction-two.html If you really want to get a class you could also travel out to Seneca. http://www.senecarocks.com/guiding.html - Seneca Rocks Mountain Guides may still be able to do some guiding http://climbseneca.com/srcs_site/climbingcourses/anchorbuilding.html - Or maybe Seneca Rocks Climbing School. Not sure most of the schools seem to say their season is up, but if you're hiring a private guide they may be able to accomodate. However a lot of the guides travel to warmer climates during this time of year, but may be worth the call.

Evecker, Let me know if you still need instruction with top rop set ups. I would be more than happy to help you with anchors and some self rescue techniques as well. Great falls is a great place to practice but is not the only spot for top roping in the area!

Hi Mikayel, We were able to go out and get an anchoring class , but another brief session of that + self-rescue techniques sounds great. Could you email me some more info (how much $, time it would take and if you are free any time in feb?). chayker (at) gmail.com
