I like sport comps with friendly format. Lately I've been entering in the open category and getting thuroughly destroyed, but it's better than sandbagging.
I just entered my first bouldering competition yesterday. I entered in men's advanced (V2-V6ish) and I won that division by one point. It was super fun. I think that I like friendly format bouldering comps with redpoint format are the most fun based on my limited experience, mainly because you don't have to worry about onsighting everything. You can actually relax and work the problems.
