The nikon D3100 is the only dSLR with continuous video autofocus out right now (and not very good at that). I'd recommend a video camera, or just practice with your lens a lot before hand, you are using a professional camera by the way, and no professional camera in hollywood has autofocus..

Wow, I've seen like four posts from you this weekend and the information you have presented in every single one has been incorrect. The D3100 is NOT the only DSLR with continuous video autofocus right now. Other options include the Nikon D7000, the Sony A55, and the Sony A77for continuous autofocus in video as well.

All m4/3s cameras offer continuous auto focus during video. While m4/3s is not a true DSLR since it doesnít have a mirror. It offers similar functionality to DSLRs. The Nikon 1 series also has continuous auto focus. However, those cameras have such a small sensor that shallow depth of field really isnít an issue for them.

The Panasonic GH2 is the best for continuous autofocus in an interchangeable lens camera right now. However, even it can struggle to find focus in low light situations with wide aperture lenses.

There is a reason why everyone still shoots manual focus for video. It simply works better. AFS is probably the second best to true manual focus.

Panasonic has greatly improved the continuous auto focus for the GH2 with a firmware update. Here is a video that demonstrates the new features this firmware update has added.
