I think someone should liken Jesus to Charles Manson in a national ad.

That's a decent price for 124g 9mm rounds.

Oh, and I like the way they put the two black guys next to each other.

First thing I saw in that picture was an ad for a burning hot deal on a bullet-type vibrator.

It would be pretty easy to go broke that way, actually.

I'm sure you meant to say that no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

I've also seen this great Mencken line quoted as, "No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public."

I think both are equally applicable in this case.

Yes, it is... As long as it's not like that corrosive crap from Egypt they used to sell in the early 90's.

I think Obama has been the greatest thing for the firearms industry since smokeless powder. Everybody's so paranoid that he'll take all their guns away, they've started snapping them up in droves. He's a job creator!

Wait, guns are still legal? I thought Obama was going to get rid of them when he was elected the first time. What happened?

Imaginary... In fact, one of his imaginary friends can do magic, and can even be 3 distinct entities, yet at the same time be only 1.

I just think its political suicide to try to ram through an honest to god gun-control bill. Obama has struck me as a pretty sharp politician so I've always doubted that he'd try to get something passed. What might get passed is a rebudgeting that gives the ATF the funds to actually enforce all of these laws, at which point we can all say "you didn't fight these laws 15 years ago, what's changed?" Enforce the laws we've got, then see about applying stricter ones (or more relaxed ones). The straw purchase loophole is what allowed Fast And Furious (the operation) to get all those guns down to Mexico. Close that first and we can go a long ways towards squeezing off legal gun trade.

I think it was the Justice Department green lighting those sales that allowed all those guns down to Mexico.

So you're saying the gun sales themselves were illegal, or just the smuggling out of the country part? Because as far as I'm aware, the gun sales themselves were legal. It was the spectacularly shitty job of the ATF following those sales that's really the scandal here.

I'm uncomfortable with the concept of gun registration, but I feel that there needs to be a clear chain of custody with every firearm, for exactly this reason. I see absolutely no legal reason why a straw purchase is EVER necessary. You don't get out of car registration just because you bought it as a gift for somebody else. Hell, I can't give my girlfriend a puppy without expecting her to register it. If you're buying the gun as a gift, why shouldn't it be registered? If you're buying the gun for somebody who cannot legally own a gun (to be differentiated from somebody who can't legally buy a gun, like a child), then you are breaking the law, and aiding somebody else in breaking the law, and we shouldn't have to wait for that person to do something shitty for that law to be enforced.
