This is a question for those who are knowledgeable about gear, specifically climbing runners. I'm using some runners as part of a gymnastics rings setup in my garage. I live in Wisconsin, and temperatures get down to zero, and could frequently go above and below freezing (32 f). The exact details are not important here, but rather I want to know if the fact that these will be sitting 24/7 in cold weather will reduce the strength of the material. It will *not* be exposed to any elements like rain, snow, etc. but it will remain inside the garage in the cold temps. Here are the runners I got: http://www.rei.com/product/474003/bluewater-titanspectra-runner-916 Thanks

I'm no expert, but people climb in winter in places colder than wisconsin. I've yet to hear of a gear manufacturer advise against using their gear in cold weather. You'll be alright.

Considering that these items are made for climbing in precisely such conditions, I'd be shocked if their strength was affected by the cold. But why take my word or any other RC.com loser? Contact Blue Water yourself. info@bluewaterropes.com (770) 834-7515

People use this stuff to climb on frozen waterfalls, so a Wisconsin garage should be fine. The only issues i know (or rather have heard of) are REALLY LOW temperatures (Denali/Mt. Mc Kinley) like -60° (or another number? but really really really cold…) which affect the metals and wet softgoods that get frozen stiff, both of which probably wont affect you. qwert

Even if they somehow got weakened 90% by the cold - you'd still have 2.7kn strength for each runner, so yeah, I think you'd be fine. But if in doubt, piss on them to warm them up before use.
