Hi all,
I spent two-three weeks at Indian Creek and around the end I realized that my right hand had developed a lump on it, right on the base of the knuckle of middle finger, the knuckle and the hand seemed all swollen (the knuckle that is in the hand proper whatever its name). I did not climb cracks for two weeks or so, and the swelling seemed to be down a little though the lump was still there. I did a day or two of cracks at Joshua Tree and now the swelling is back. My hand and knuckle look huge; and I am realizing it is not just the middle but also the index finger. It is not painful - except when I make a fist I feel pressure. It is sensitive to touch, but not overly so.

Anyone had something like this? Considering that I have already rested it for two weeks, what should I do (besides maybe not climbing cracks)?

Sounds like it can be a ganglion cyst. Look it up online. If it doesn't go away on its own, a doctor could drain it for you. My bro had a ganglion cyst and the doctor had a x ray taken to confirm. The doc said to wait a bit, if it gets bigger he would drain it.

I have had many ganglion cysts, and none have ever caused general inflammation like the OP describes.

See a doctor.
