Can't Post
I'm planning a trip to Colorado (Breckinridge, Rocky Mountain N.P., etc.) this August with my family (wife; & kids ages 13, 11, and 7. I'd iike to take them climbing for a day somewhere that has access to set up easy top rope climbs. I've got some experience and training climbing, and our kids have all done climbing at our local athletic complex (I know... it's not the same, but we're Illinois flatlanders!!) I'm planning on a couple of "training missions" up to Devil's lake this summer before we go to CO.
Any help locating climbs (or guidebooks?) would be appreciated!
North Table in Golden has a bunch of top ropes, but it might be too toasty in August. There's also a book called Colorado Topropes or something like that.
The easiest access as well as TR setups if you're already up near RMNP may be http://www.rockclimbing.com/...in_Canyon/Ironclads/ though there may not be many routes at the difficulty level you're looking for.
Off the top of my head I can't think of many places that support top-roping without being able to lead up to the anchors and/or bringing gear to build an anchor.
