My main cam set are c3's/c4's, and for a secondary set of cams acquired in my noob phase - DMM U-Stem 4CU's (started off as my only cams and moved to a backup set when I could afford c4's). The DMMs are going on 8 years old and I think I'd like to retire them. Any thoughts on a new set of secondary cams to compliment the Camelot C4's? I'd like to cover any range gaps where possible. I'm thinking single stem.
I'm looking at TCU's and Dragon Cams. What do you guys think?

Unless you really hate your DMM's, they're probably still fine (unless the cables are frayed), and may just need a webbing resling.
If you're over the DMM's, I would double up from the .4 to the 3 in the C4's - they're my favorite of the larger cams. Then get a set of Metolius Mastercams or Totem Basics to cover the smaller sizes.
It seems my friends and I have a similar rack set up - C4's from .4 up, and either Metolius or Aliens for smaller gear. If you're climbing anywhere with flared or irregular placements, get some offsets!

You might want to take a look at here --> Over 40 different types of active protection there. Most interesting ones in my opinion are Link Cams and DMM Dragon Cams. Oh, and Totem Cam might be interesting or at least different, they have a bit different design. Don't have any practical experience with them though.

Dragon cams would be the bottom of the pile for me. Totems the top, but the Totems only go to Red Camalot size.
I don't know 3 things:
1st) what is this "Gap" in the sizing that you say Camalots have? I don't know of one.
2nd) I don't know why you need to retire the DMM U stems.
3rd) I don't know your budget. Used Wild Country Technical Friends are a solid cam, single stem (per your request) and inexpensive.
Caveat: I have not personally seen and tried the new Wild Country Heliums. I have used the Dragons and the Camalots are shockingly better IMO, and not only better but also cheaper.

Thanks for the advice. For the gap, I mean on the older style camalots that included the 3.5/4.5 size. Between #3 and #4 there is barely any overlap in range. Not a huge deal, but I shoulda bought a 3.5 when I had the chance. Would be nice to find something that sort of plugs in there but not a huge deal.
I don't need to retire the DMMs I guess. A good reslinging would probably do. Mechanically they're sound enough. It's tax time though and I'll have a little money back and wouldn't mind upgrading the oldest pieces of my rack. That being said. My ideal price range for the set would probably be in the same as Camalots.
