well, besides the fact that I live in a deep red state:

Seriously, the marketing apparatus that is the Obama campaign has the rational half of the United States easily fooled into thinking that he is a progressive. The rightists are convinced he is the next Stalin.

I do not understand.

I wouldn't put all that much stock in the analysis from politicalcompass.org.

I think the fact that Obama has turn out to be pretty authoritarian and fiscally conservative tells us more about how fucked up our political system is that people call him socialist than anything about his effectiveness as a leader.

Yes, Obama's not the progressive messiah everybody thought he'd be. However, considering that his predecessor was even farther from centrist on both axes, I'm willing to accept Obama as a step in the right direction.

I'm done with voting for the less evil candidate. I'm just going to waste my vote from now on. I'll either find a candidate I can stomach or write in my dog.

Sure you can do that--but had people not done exactly that with Nader in 2000, GW Bush would never have been elected president. It's more than just "throwing away" your vote, you could actually cause someone worse to win. It sucks, I know.

So, if Newt or Santorum gets the GOP nod, then you will:
a) Vote for either of them
b) Not vote

Since you said you won't vote for Obama, those are the options if either of those two get the nod.

See... When I hear people like Newt or Perry say that they would never vote for Romney, the same thing applies... Would they either vote for Obama or not at all, since they said they wouldn't vote for Romney.

To me, it seems like a very disingenuous thing to say, when they really would vote for him if he was the GOP nomination, given all they want is Obama out. Some may even call it a lie, and I find it very hipocritical that ex-presidential candidates, and career politicians for that matter, seeking votes would not vote in a presidential election.

Attitudes like that in 2000 made a bunch of libs in FL vote for Nader, and put W in office.

Obama is not a progressive, he's a centrist with cold realpolitik foreign policy.

The supreme court put W in office; blaming the aging florida libs is misguided in my mind.. And if it takes 4 more years of Newt RomBama until I finally see the end of Reagan's Xth term, I'm okay with that, provided I don't vote for it.

And you're GUed...

Thats funny. I was just thinking he might get my vote this time round, now that I've seen him in action.
