Hey everyone, my name is Eli and i am planning on going to joshua tree this may, 2012. for about 3 weeks or so, ill be there in the park trying to climb as much as possible. I have a harness, rope, quick draws, no trad gear, ATC - all the very basics. I dont really know where to begin but basically im looking for other people to go climbing with, hang out with, and basically just live the j tree life. If anyone knows anything about finding groups/partners in joshua tree, please let me know. your help is really appreciated!

You could post up here or on MP, try the pit or Hidden Valley partner board.

There are a number of ways to find partners while your here. As suggested there is the bulletin board in Hidden Valley. Usually a note with your site number is a good start. Also, in the evenings around camp, just mull about and get to know people. Don't over sell yourself and see if you can tag along with a group. Groups will be a better option since you won't be creating a group of 3 for two regular partners. Yeah never know. The quick draws are not gonna be a great help since this is not a sport climbing area. There are sport climbs, not in large clumps. They are kind of spread about. You could also hit Todd Gordon's web site: http://www.joshuatreeclimb.com/...aBB.pl?board=general Todd's a great guy. He can only make it out on weekends, but your sure to have a fun time. That will be one place you will want quick draws. Todd's only doing FA's these days and their bolted. I'd go out with you, but that's the busy guide season for me and I'll likely be working a lot. Good luck. Send me a PM as time gets closer and maybe we can hook up for a day. I've got plenty of gear. Robert
