Edited to add OP's deleted original post:
david7896 wrote: been bouldering for a few months now and I struggling on V3. the other day i ran into some friends that were working a nice V8 that was completely horizontal and about 10 feet long. after watching them for awhile i decided to try the problem for shits a giggles (knowing it was out of my range). but to my surprise i did it. i was shocked. So now im a little confused, how come i can climb V8 but not v4 or 5?
Three Four likely possibilities: 1) You have been bitten by a radioactive spider 2) The setter failed to account for beta that skips the intended one-move crux. 3) Someone is fucking with you. Edit: 4) Someone turned the 3 into an 8

Sorry dude. There is simply no way that a person struggling on v3s would ever be able to send a correctly graded v8, as the magnitude of difficulty between them is extraordinary. If I had to guess, it's #4.

Well I think I have figured out his issue. On the v8 he jumped up and latched on at the 10 foot mark, then hung there while thinking "my god, I just completed a v8.
