Hi,

Looking for any climbing partners in and around Winston Salem, GSO area. Am 27 and started climbing 1 year back. Looking for active partners for climbing over the weekends..!!
We do have couple of good climbing spots at the Pilot Mtn, Moores Wall. Crowders state park is also easily accessible..!!

cross-posted for relevant coverage:

If you want to know before you go to Pilot, spend time at home at http://ClimbPilotNC.us so that you will know how to get to the top-rope anchors and how much rigging to bring, which way to go from the bottom of Three Bears Gully, what each face looks like when you are there. The pocket guide at ccc forum, given free at the park office, has few and poor photos and almost no information on purpose. ClimbPilotNC.us has many photos on purpose and beta from many climbers per route. The author may be there, to give assistance if possible.

Hi,

Thnx much for the information. Is a good site for a beginner to start with.
BTW are you visiting the Pilot Mtn these days? Just curious if I could join.

Presobh,
I rarely like to dole out online advice, but be careful learning from and/or choosing random partners online or a the crag, especially at Pilot. Being a beginner, it is difficult for you assess who is safe to belay you and who is practicing safe habits. And Pilot Mtn has a notorious reputation for the blind leading the blind. Hopefully this doesn't sound condescending, as I'm sure you probably have enough sense to not get yourself into trouble! Just my 2 cents worth, take it or leave it...and I hope you have success finding safe and motivated people in WS to climb with.

Hey I am from Winston, and I am still pretty new to climbing. I would love to go sometime. Especially next week like Tuesday of Thursday. I live in Boone for school, but can travel. Let me know if you want to climb.

As soon as my schedule frees up I'll let you know. Do you have rope?

Hey I'm reviving an old thread here. But I'm going to be in Winston this weekend and thinking about a late Saturday climbing session at Pilot. If anyone wants to go let me know.
