Thanks for the link!

Looks like it will work, a few points:

-Looks light and compact which is awesome!

-Looks like the that the device only works optimally in a straight parallel crack. Could there be a stability issue when placed in an irregular cracks?

-The narrow lobes, and overall width, seems like the device could flip out (torquing in a sideways twisting manner), more of an issue if placed in an irregular crack?

-Looks like it would be difficult to walk the device...I need all the help here when it come to offwidth ;-)

Oh looky, somebody resurrected a 25-year-old design. The Cassin Blitz sucked then and this will suck now.

I think ABC used to have a version too.

I Googled around for an image of the Blitz:

It's from a post on Supertopo:

The Blitz were marketed by CASSIN (Italia) and created by Martin Gutsche in 1987. Some more info: Patent DE 37 17 027. 8 December 1988. In the Cassin catalog 1991, the Blitz are numbered as #1, #2 and #3. Lighter than a SLCD of a similar size. The color anodized part must be placed upside, the non anodized part being downside.

I can't seem to find the original entry on the Nuts Museum website, though.

From the Kong website:

Looks like Kong has added a "special button" for "easy insertion".

I'd suggest the name "Tipsy".

As far as weight goes, it's heavy. Much heavier than a bro.

#5 Camalot 380g vs Kong #5 320g
#6 Camalot 557g vs Kong #6 485g
cover same ranges
tiny bit lighter but can you "walk" it above your head for longer offwidths!?

As the saying goes:

"You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig."

The solution for wide cracks hasn't changed: BigBros, Camalots, Valley Giants, cojones.

Climb safe,
Mal

I've had an old Cassin one for about 20 years. Weight is about like other gear in the range. One advantage is that it hangs nicely from the rack. As I've acquired bigger cams, I don't use it that often. It's reasonably stable, nothing like the wiggling of a large tricam but requires some practice to place it securely and not waste time.

Cheers,
Rob.calm
