Cheney gets a pulse again

Former Vice President Cheney has heart transplant

In reply to:
In July 2010, Cheney announced that a small left ventricular assist device (LVAD) had been implanted to help treat congestive heart failure. The device, which included an external system controller, required two rechargeable batteries to help pump blood throughout the body. A few months later Cheney appeared noticeably thinner at the groundbreaking for the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Texas.

One of the interesting characteristics of that machine is that the blood is pumped continuously, rather than discretely, so the patient has no pulse, despite still having circulation.

Pretty unlikely that Cheney ever had a pulse.

Classic Daily Show bit on Cheney's mechanical heart:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/...ation-of-dick-cheney.

This brings up an interesting question: How would you feel if you thought your donated organs would be wasted on the likes of Dick Cheney?

Imagine if the new heart transplant worked, and like the Grinch who's heart grew three sizes, he suddenly realized all the horror he had personally perpetrated on the world. Could he live with the overwhelming feeling of grief and shame?

It would not be the first time it's been uttered: "The operation was a complete success, however the patient did not survive."

I think you can drive yourself crazy wondering who might get your organs. No, best to just register as a donor and let the living figure it out.

However: If a certain ex-Vice President's secret service detachment shows up on your doorstep with a red Igloo Cooler....RUN!
