Have any of y'all done the EL descent of the Captain yet this year. I am thinking late April. Hopefully I will be looking down the descent rather than a retreat. Any snow or ice in the gully?

Given the lack of snow in general, I wouldn't think that by April, there will be any snow in the descent.
That whole area gets sun till noon or a bit later.
