What kind of climbing do you do mostly? That will help in recommending a shoe. As far as aggressiveness goes I personally like the sportiva solution. I don't climb anything that I need shoes that agressive though so the most agressive I will ever have is either the miuras or something equivalent to them.

Aggressive for what? Steeps, vertical edging, cracks?

Emphasis on finding a good fit. People climb plenty hard in basic shoes, just look at any climbing film over five years old . . .

mainly a shoe that is aggressive and good for all different types of climbing. I am still climbing inside right now and I am about to take my lead climbing class at my gym in arkansas, so I was looking at getting a more aggressive shoe to help outdoors. I dont like a specific type of climbing I like it all and I like to challenge myself in multiple different ways.

at this point, just buy the cheapest shoe that fits you well. you most likely still lack the technique and prescision to benefit from an agressive shoe...

oh, btw, for me its a sportiva testarossa.

The tarantulas fit the bill nicely then. They are good for both face climbing and the steeps for now. When you spend more time specifically in the steeps you could get a shoe like the above mentioned testerossa, but for face climbing on small edges you'll probably want something like a katana (keeping the sportiva theme) or a good stiff laceup. If you go too specific with aggressive shoes, your going to end up needing a few pairs to suit different routes. Good luck.

How hard are you climbing outside? I highly doubt your shoes are holding you back, the Tarantula is my favorite "beginner" shoe on the market at this point. I'm assuming you've never been off top rope outside either, so you have a long way to go my friend. PS, where in Arkansas are you located?

yes i dont think they are holding me back, and i live in Benton AR. I go to the Little Rock Climbing Center, and i have yet to go outside. I am going to take my lead climbing class at LRCC and then head outside because i really dont want to top rope outside i feel like that is really noobish. the reason for me looking for a more aggressive shoe is so i can get my toe in on hold's better. and i know my technique is not perfect but i really do work it every time i go to the gym by doing drills like glue hands and feet.(Self-Coached Climber!! Da Best!!!)Laugh

the shoes arent whats holding you back ... work on careful placement of the feet ...

once yr current pair blow out ... youll be better placed to decide what you need ...

I don't buy the "you're too new to benefit from precise shoes" argument. Training with a dull knife does not make you a better chef.

Get some quality aggressive shoes. Experiment with brands and styles to find ones that work with your foot shape.

For my purposes--gym, sport, and trad--and my foot shape, the LS Solutions and Muira VS's are the best I've found.

On the other hand, buying a $10,000 bicycle doesn't make you ready for the Tour de France. Anyway, it sounds to me like the OP would be well served sticking with some type of all-around climbing shoe at this point.
