Olympic lifting or Powerlifting - Whats your poison? I've currently started running through a cycle of a Wendler 5/3/1 modification. Previously i was working on a cycle of an olympic lifting program designed by one of my mentors, but i got footlocked in Jiu Jitsu, didn't tap fast enough and have damaged my ankle The ankle damage means i can do too many heavy dynamic movements, which sucks because olympic lifts sent my power output through the roof. How do you guys integrate BW exercises and climbing into your routines? Also does this site have a training logs for training and supplementation exercises?

I´ve lifted a few things before but it is really not worth the risk of getting caught.

sparring. it was against a higher belt. he didnt feel the tap the first time and cranked it on harder. was really my fault, we were told to "tap and tap hard" against lower body attacks. Ouch knee attack. as soon as i see a knee bar or heel hook i tap before its even on.

Fair enough, I guess. I would never apply pressure to a lower leg attack though. Too easy to injure someone too badly before they feel anything. But then I'm a big un-competitive softy.

Was just a lame comment from me. Lifting = Shoplifting or stealing in general.

I used to be interested in Power Lifting. I did one Bench and Dead meet, then got injured and lost interest. I used a bunch of crazy overly complicated routines before reading Practical Programming by Mark Rippetoe and switching to his Starting Strength routine despite thinking I was far too advanced for it, but it worked wonders. If you are eating sufficiently and pushing yourself, it can take you farther than you think possible. I just started back to the gym. I don't plan on competing or anything though. I'm using Pavel's Power to the People routine, which is really low volume. One workout consists of only Overhead Press and Deadlift done for one set of 5 followed by one set of 3 and finally one set of 2. That's it. You do it up to 5 times per week. I'm hoping the low volume will allow me to continue climbing as much as I normally do. I also recently constructed a sandbag which I plan on carrying around and running up hills with, but I'm currently too weak to even lift it off the ground.

cool! yeah my issue with powerlifting is the stupid things people do in competition just trying to push weight. I was on starting strength for a time but didnt make much progress. i recently got on wendlers and have made excellent progress. it's quite low volume except the last set. i'm going on an O-lift mod in a couple months. the scheme is 1-3 reps at 75 to 95% for 5 sets of main lift plus one accessory 3x5. gonna be fun i've got the spread sheet if you'd like to see? (attached) man sandbags! great for grip strength!
