A couple of friends and I are looking to take a bike trip somewhere in South Dakota and also want to incorporate some climbing. Does anyone know of any good places in South Dakota to road bike and climb for 3-4 days? Thanks

If your mostly sport'in, get up around Mt Rushmore. You can stay at Wrinkled Rock campground (climbers campground) for free for like 14 days or so. There is some trad there on the Washington Wall or, if your an adventurer you can wander around and make your own climbs. Mostly trad, head up to Custer State Park around Sylvan Lake and Cathedral Spires. What kind of biking? Trail? Get on any of the many miles in the Harney trails systems, plus there's 1000's of make your own trad routes you can see and bike or walk to. The Mickelson (sp) Trail offers almost 80 miles through some prime BlackHills and is well maintained, maybe even good enough for a sturdy road bike. There's also the Deerfield Trail, rough trail for the most part. Road biking? Head up through Spearfish Canyon after touring many other parts of the hills and enjoy some sport routes while your at it. If your really energetic you can peddle over to Devils Tower.

Wow...Thanks a lot for the Info! We are going to try and tour on road bikes, camp and sport climb for three days with a small pack, whatever we can fit on our bike racks and $50-100 each.
