Natural Cough Remedies?

Can't Post

I have gotten over (ok, am getting over) this cold from last week, which should be pretty much gone already, but I keep on coughing. I think it might be my asthma flaring up, because I just keep coughing regularly and unproductively. Does anyone have any good suggestions for natural remedies for this kind of cough that have worked for you? I don't want to take OTC drugs unless I have to (and even then, this is the kind of cough Robutussin isn't going to help me with), and I'm obviously not going to a doctor unless I absolutely have to.

Try chewing dried osha root, aka "bear root.". http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osha#section_4

You can find it in herbalist shops, but I order mine online from Centralia Fur & Hide. Just chew a section of the root and swallow the juices until it is gone. Works wonders for me.

BLUGH! I just got hold of some Osha extract at the natural food store, and this stuff is foul!! I hope you are right that it works.

I have no experience with the extract, just the dried root. It doesn't taste too bad, probably better than concentrated extract, and a piece the size of a pen cap will last 10 minutes or so and the resulting saliva always stops my cough. I hope the extract works as well.
