last thursday while building climbing drunk i had the unfortunate luck of falling and breaking my wrist. just had surgery and am looking at at least six weeks in a cast, and then a few weeks after before i can start climbing hard. until then i would like to maintain as much fitness as possible. once im off the painkillers i plan on running, working abs, and climbing some low angle stuff one-handed to help my footwork. just wondering if anyone else has suggestions for how to train before/after my cast is off, and some insight as to how long it will take to recover my previous level of climbing. tyanks, austin

I broke my scaphoid a few years ago and was in a cast for 3 months. I rode a bike for cardio fitness, I didn't like running, the jarring impact hurt my wrist. Afterwards I did PT for a while and that really helped, they also give you some exercises that help. After PT, it seems like the hand strength came back pretty quick with some gym climbing/bouldering. Good luck and heal quick
