Hi there, Im fairly new to climbing and extremely new to the Northwest, Portland Oregon to be exact. I have my shoes and harness and know how to belay. I had a wonderful couple that took me out to walls in Southern California and taught me a few things. But now that I moved, how do I find people to learn from?

Check out the partner forum on www.cascadeclimbers.com there are more locals there Also, check out the circuit and the portland rock club, hang out at the gym and make some friends with excited people climbing at your level.

Join the Mazamas. No, that's terrible advice. Go to the rock gym. Good Crags: Beacon Rock, Smith Rock, Leavenworth WA, Tieton WA. If you're in the know then Trout Creek. But seriously, go to the gym and the crag. A place as busy as smith should have some solo people running around.

Yup Panda's right, idk about the gym, but at most crag you will find experienced climbers. If your a cool enough person many will be willing to give you pointers and let you climb on their rope. This is generally true at any climbing area. Also post to the partner section of the forums on this site. Checkout meetup.com and look for climbing groups in your area, join one, attend their meetups.
