The T-Wall app looks useful, but the UI is hideous. Maybe use some colors other than eyemelting green? It looks like a skate t-shirt circa 1987. That said, I'll probably try out the apple version once it appears.

Climbing "apps" need to die off already. They pissed me off from day one. Call me a grumpy old brony fag, but I fucking hate apps.

At this point I could go on a pointless rant involving pure spiritual tree huggin karmaz, the stupidity of bringing a smartphone to the crag, kindles (and how I like them but some people only buy vinyl), and the other stupid stuff out there. The only "climbing" app I will give credit isn't even really a climbing app, it's the weather/avi conditions thingsthat people have set up pulling info from MWIS, SAIS and other sites. Great for if you have signal but no access to a computer (because it changes with time, unlike routes). I could do said rant, but I would look like an irrational fucktard so I won't (cuz that will totally save me).

Hey styndall, It is interesting that you mention the hideous colors; in bright sunlight/outdoors beta testers mentioned they liked the "eye catching" colors; the palette on an iPhone is a tiny bit muted compared to the android shots so I hope it's not too egregious. Also, if you tap the lines/text they disappear so you can rid yourself of the circa '87 neon posthaste! Will update thread when we get word on apple binaries vetted by Apple.

How about the fact that I can carry my phone, which I carry anyway, to the crag instead of a 2-pound book? That alone makes my NRG app so useful that your statement almost seems ridiculous to me. Actually I take that back. It makes your statement seem utterly ridiculous to me.

OK, you're a grumpy old brony fag....whatever the hell that is. Feel better. Now get with the program, the shit coming down the pike is some amazing stuff which will make your life as a climber better. Think of this, a GPS enabled map for long and complex approaches. Live weather so you can "see" over the next ridge and get yer raincoat on in time:-), routes routes routes...updated live. Right when you bust off that perfect handhold, you can upload the info that you just made a 5.7 a 5.11.....I'm with Jung. It's just entering the sweet space. BTW, OP dude, "problem loading page". I could forsee that the words "the blue screen of death", if it occurred on a route during a critical juncture could be a literal thing. Which might be emblematic of what that grumpy old brony fag (whatever the hell that really is) was just discussing about the limits of technology LOL...

Jay Maybe it's because I have hung around with too many pure spiritual bolt chopping traditionalist nature loving path hating Scottish hardmen, but I can't stand fancy stuff at the crag. Though I would prolly feel different at a sporty crag rather then the mountain crags that are available around my local area. I still wouldn't use it myself though.

6pacfershur wrote: hey mods, have the rules concerning advertising on the forum changed? seems to be lots of it going on lately.... The difference is people might actually want to hear about this. As you can see most people are quite keen, and since it seems to be a legit competition it's not just spam. These things tend to be dealt with on an individual basis, the mods job isn't to keep the forum strictly clean of any advertisement, it's to keep them in a state the users enjoy.

So at the crags you go to they don't use things like Gore-tex, and I beam construction carabiners, or those fancy new cam things, or pretty much any backpack, or polycarbonate sunglasses or anything like that? Or is there a bound to your hypocrisy?
