She was not wearing a helmet, but she was supposed to be wearing one. She was conducting a YMCA sanctioned event during summer camp. Apparently the other campers had helmets on. Apparently she was not climbing when she was hit by rock, but she was at the crag so I suspect they were planning on climbing later in the day. I find this event rather strange. Rock fall does not commonly occur at the crag she was at, in four years of visiting the crag I have only seen rock fall large enough to inflict serious injury twice. In any case, my best wishes go out to her and her family; I hope for a speedy recovery. I suspect the YMCA may get sued over this.
