Found climbing rope - - 40 - 50 miles west of Denver, North of I-70, South of Winterpark Describe where and when you lost it, brand, color, length, diameter, and how you left it (i.e. coiled, piled up, butterflyed, laid out on ground/snow/rock, in a pack/bag, on a tarp) and it's yours. Really don't want to use a found rope, so would really like to find the rightful owner who I'm sure would like to get it back. AL

Are you sure it wasn't just stashed? You may want to check the boards to see if anyone's looking for their stolen rope.

Seriously? Discussion boards. AKA, internet forums. Like this one.

Cool. Some friends had ropes stashed at a crag with a 45 minute approach. Some dude grabbed them all and then posted on RC.com that he'd found a bunch of lost ropes, never considering that they had been left there on purpose (which is hard to believe, considering he grabbed like 5 ropes altogether). Good on you.

I personally did not find the rope. A non-climbing friend of mine came across it and asked me what to do. I got all the details from them, and now I'm just trying my best to find the owner. From their description it doesn't sound like a stashed rope, but a forgotten rope, but then again I didn't leave it there and I didn't find it. I really hate to see a rope wasted by not getting it back to the owner, and as you know it's of no use for climbing if you don't know it's history. Hopefully with all these discussions the owner will come across this site. Sincerely, aldo
