There is a gray ball-shaped nest for Bald-faced Hornets under the big roof between 'Overhang Hangover' and 'Blind Prophet' on the Left Wall in the Amphitheater. The lower part of both routes would probably be safe, the roof part is not safe while the nest is active this summer. And getting to the chain anchors for 'Velvet' to lower from 'Blind Prophet' may be risky too. A climber at the upper overhang on 'Prophet' was stung on 6/23/12, with a swarm forming around his head before the belayer could get him down. They were able to retrieve the quickdraws later by rappelling from the ring anchors. Park rangers have been notified; but the nest is a natural phenomenon, and climbing is not. If you want to try any of those routes, it is an added risk. Hornets can sting multiple times, and others commonly join in. .
