Drive past the old parking area, which is now blocked with recently deposited small piles of rock, about 1/4 mile. The road widens a bit, and there is a space to park along the road, by a guardrail. I could not find any "no parking" signs here, and my car was parked to the right of the white line parallel to the road. This parking is just past the a trailhead sign for "Prettyman's Camp Trail." This trail was improved in February 2012, and leads to the base of Rappahannock Rocks climbing area about 1/2 mile from the start of the trail. Climbing area has lots of trash and some broken glass at the base, but was nice and has good access to the river. You can wade/swim to cool off after climbing. Not super, but a nice place for a climb if you live close to Fredericksburg.
