WOOHOO, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
I chose to do a separate thread because so much time has past and this really is about new groups working together in the 112th congress with HR1904, etc.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU ACCESS FUND

We have a page dedicated to educating the public, has the history of the Oak Flat issue, folks can donate to continue our efforts to save Oak Flat from being destroyed, help folks write a letter to politicians and a petition to sign.

hello it is officially TIME (again) to dust off our wit and express ourselves to our House of Reps. This Thurs. Sept 19 (could be moved to Wed) there is a Vote planned for H.R. 687, the Oak Flat Land Exchange.

This is the 12th & worst version of the lot. We have lost ALL options of preserving The Pond or any other climbing areas for the future of Queen Creek. (regardless of BS told by EF & PD) There are many reasons this bill is a bad idea and should be defeated.

Please contact your Representative and tell them to vote NO on H.R. 687

Here is a link to easily send a letter c/o Arizona Mining Reform Coalition. Add your own words if you desire but do this ASAP today! Thank you

It looks as thought the floor vote in the House of Representatives will be Thursday, September 26th.

Just FYI, there was no vote on HR 687 on the 26th and the bill was shelved. The bill sponsors did not believe they had sufficient votes to either defeat one of the bill's amendments or to pass the bill itself. This was a good day for climbers.

Now how 'bout the AZDOT plan to divert 60 at Top of the World and run a freeway across Northern Devils at the power station, cutting off most if not all road access to Northern and Upper and basically killing the town of Superior?

Last I heard (spring of 2012 and on their website last month) they are still surveying the public and looking at options. Any Access Fund communications with them or action planned/ongoing?

Resolution and its supporters snuck the land exchange into a defense spending bill at the last minute, and now it has passed the house!!!

Although the President will probably sign the bill causing the land swap's approval, all is not lost. We can still let him know it is a bad idea. Take action, please.
