hello new to the Willamette valley and looking for some good places to check out. my partner is moving out in august and want to show him some good spots

I was out there last week. There is a nice toprope (or trad lead) right in town called Skinner Butte Columns. It's small, but fun! I also made the 1.5 hour drive to Flagstone, which was good sport climbing (try Hydrotube!). The REI has a 3 volume guidebook to the area, but the closest places are an hour (or more) away, aside from the columns. It did seem the columns were a good place to meet other climbers in the area.

Keep in mind if you're heading to Flagstone it requires a drive on very potholey forest/logging roads. You can make it without a high clearance vehicle but your car won't thank you. Also, last year when I was out there half the road was washed out at one point; hope it hasn't got any worse!
Oh, and Smith is obviously the best climbing around if you don't mind a bit of a drive and lots of crowds.

You have a lot of climbing in the area around Eugene. Yes some of them will require a bit of a drive but the climbs are worth it depending on what you are looking for. The three books that you can get at REI are writen by Greg Orton under the title of Oregon Rock Climbing and come in three volumes to cover the different areas. The links are for Amazon.
Volume 1: Willamete Valley, This area cover the area around Eugene.
