Does any one have a method for cutting the new Sterling Powercord? Using a traditional hot knife only sees the sheath cutting while the core seems to smolder. I'm pretty sure that the heat resistance of the core materials is intensely high so finding a way to close off the cut so that the core strands are not exposed has been difficult. Any thoughts?

You have to cut the core (not easy either, best using a razor knife against a cutting board), pull the ends of the sheath a bit out beyond the ends of the core, and then melt the ends of the sheath closed.

Wrap the whole thing tightly with electrical tape, then put it under a little tension and cut through the middle of the tape with a sharp knife or scissors. Seal the sheath over the core with a lighter or other heat source.
