...in about a week. Plugging this for my friend Travis who's done a tremendous job over the last few years researching and writing Vermont's first ever rock climbing guide Tough Schist. It's a beautiful full color guide with over 500 never before documented routes, superb topos, cool climbing history, and great photography. A must have for New England climbers. The book is all printed and being bound now. Pre-order here: http://www.vermontrock.com/, because they'll go quickly. Cheers, Derek

Thanks. I've been looking for good information on climbing in Vermont, and this looks like it. I ordered a copy.

I heard that if you slip in an extra few bucks, the author will spritz the guidebook with his cologne and send it off with a kiss. I dunno if that's true though...

Yes, I have it on good authority that this is true. The cologne spritz / kiss option is $5.95, and the "special personalized" photo inserts of the author are $10.00. I thought they were a bit creepy, but as long as they're black and white, it's art, right?

I'm usually a guidebook junkie, but in 34 years of climbing, mostly in NH, I have never once rock climbed in Vt save for some bouldering at Smuggs. Ice climbing, on the other hand...
