I am coming to the Gunks this weekend (its been a couple of years) and I am planning on sleeping in the back of my truck. Anyone got any good park and sleep locations?
Thanks

I've seen car-sleeping in the MUA parking lot. I bet you can do the same in the West Trapps lot if you're discreet about it

I've done this before, but rules and enforcement levels change so just want to be on the safe side.

Climbers can bivy in the vehicle in the West Trapps lot, but the line is drawn at camping. That means, as an example, that if you are going to be making breakfast, you should *not* be taking up a second parking spot, at 9am, with a folding table set-up... On weekends, especially nice weather ones, the lot gets very busy, very early, and such an activity would be frowned upon.

A new potty has been installed in the lot(about 1/5th way into the lot from access point), so the walk to the port-a-potty by the bridge is no longer an issue, should nature, when calling, be pressing button number two on the speed dial...

There really is no *better* place for back-of-vehicle bivy at the Gunks. Finding level at the MUA is near to impossible.

Thanks Happiegrrl,
In the past we were asked to leave when doing ti bivy thing, but the guy who was giving us grief was apperently the "Parking Nazi". We never slept there again. We will make this our 1st option.
For me the tailgate of the truck is the kitchen and the lawnchair ;)
