Hi there, we are travelling end of July to Bangkok. Since it is the rainy season, the spots around Krabi may not be possible. Do you have other suggestions for the area towards Cambodia or even in Cambodia pr anything else reachable starting from Bangkok? Maybe Chiang Mai? My girl friend is a beginner, so one or two really easy routes would be nice, too. And a beach maybe and some Yoga :) Will a rope, a dozen quick draws and helmet be enough or would you bring friends (camelots) and a clipstick? Many thanks in advance for any advice! Arne

You could still climb in Krabi during the rainy season, just need to stick to areas that are covered. Not sure if the rain is better in Lao but we climbed in Vang Vien a number of years ago and the area (across the river north of town) had a bunch of easy routes. As for gear, leave the cams and stickclip at home, really don't need them.
