Moved from trip reports to general by WW.
By the way - Usually 2 big trips and lots more long weekends, weekends, and days off. So about 3 weeks worth of climbing 'trips' outside of our local haunts.

Seeing as I would consider a "trip" anything that involves 1+ nights not in my own bed....I have to vote 1(max). I am king of the one-day-on-a-weekend warriors!

I always think of a trip as an extended thing. More like an out of state extended day thing. Not weekends.
I have City of Rocks, Red Rocks, and Yosemite trips in so far. Haven't done shit since May waiting for my shoulder to feel better. However, a weekend trip to do a lap up my local rock and some hiking into the wilderness afterwards isn't a "trip". Neither is sleeping over cause I want 2 days in and don't want to pay for gas. In my view.

I am not sure I place a minimum time on a trip, but I do separate climbing trips from a day climbing.
Last month I flew to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, a 3 hour flight for about 40 USD round-trip. Definitely a climbing trip, but we only spent two night there.
Last week we decided to stay two nights a local crag to avoid the hour and half drive back and forth, we didn't consider that a climbing trip, just going climbing.
Most of my climbing trips tend to be between 10 and 20 days. With that said, my wife and some friends did a five day climbing trip a couple weeks back to put up anew grade V route. Complete with local home-stay and climbing over rice paddies.

What's a "climbing trip"? How long does it have to be? How far do I have to travel? Is a 2-hour drive for a day's climbing a "climbing trip"? How about 5-7 hours for a weekend, or maybe long weekend?

So I know I am new but, i consider a trip to be anywhere outside of your normal climbing spot. This could be drive in, drive out or overnight. It can be days, weeks months or even hours.
I just wanted to know where I stood in comparison to the more hardcore climbers....
