Hey there folks, I've been resting a finger injury for a couple weeks and have had the awful displeasure of watching all of my good calloused skin fall and peel off! I'm taking a few more weeks off to let my finger get better and was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to keep your skin tough while you're taking some time off. I'll be climbing mostly at Smith this fall and for those who have climbed there, they know that the Tuff shreds your tips. I know my lack of skin will be my limiting factor when i hit the rock again so if anyone knows how to replicate that good/painful hurt-so-good feeling you get from real rock, lemme know!!!

Lol... you'll have to suffer like the rest of us mortals once back on the rock.... taking care of the finger comes 1st.

Get a nail file. a course one. they sell em for 2.50 for two at Target. File your finger pads and calouses down untill they are smooth and soft. they will grow back even and firm and hard. Keep doing that every other day or every three days. whatever feels good. Ill do intensive fileing than i will have to let my skin re grow because my fingers are to tender to touch hot things. So file em down.
