I have been climbing in Calabogie this summer and have been looking for the grades of the routes. There are rocks below some of the routes that have the names with the grades marked on them, but when I looked on this site I found a list of routes for Calabogie's Main Cliff with the names of the routes and none of them match the names that are on the rocks at the actual location. A bit confused, not sure where else I could find this information, anyone able to help? Much appreciated, it'd be good to know what I've been climbing :)! Thanks

You'll find more of the routes on The Crag at: https://www.thecrag.com/area/99932787 I don't have all the newest routes on there, especially the newer ones way down the cliff. But I've got a lot of the routes, both new and old, with pictures of at least some of them to help locate them. There's also a discussion of a lot of the new routes on Ottawa climbing at: http://www.ottawaclimbing.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=969 (login may be required to view threads, I'm not sure).

Thanks! You have both been very helpful. My only issue is that there is no pictures of the cliffs and the descriptions and directions are depedent on knowing the names of the routes. And they still dont match the names that are on the rocks at the routes. The names and routes Im familiar with are hakuna matata, stage left, stage right, etc. The ones we have climbed dont have names and we have no idea what grades they are. It is such a popular spot on weekends especially in the fall that I am surprised there is not a better guide. I could try posting pics on here of the climbs ive done to see if anyone recognizes them maybe? |

There aren't pictures of all the climbs -- but there are pictures of bunches of them. Sure, not all of them -- but it is a work in progress. And, a bunch of the routes without pictures haven't been climbed in years, perhaps decades and have become quite overgrown again -- they'd need re-cleaning to really be climbable. Hakuna-Matata does have a picture on The Crag. Stage Left and Stage Right are new names to me, they may have been put up in the last few months, or possibly been given names recently and I just have them as an un-named route. Posting pics here might work -- but I'm not sure how many other Ottawa-area climbers post/read on here. You might try both here and ottawaclimbing.com.

Sometimes I can't figure out what a climb is, either, so can't post a pic of it. But, when I can get a good pic, and can figure out what it is a pic of, I do post it on the crag. It should get more and more complete.
