Thatīs vicious stereotyping, my cams are nice and shiny because I donīt bother to place them. Some of them are Russian as well, not those modern Ukranian things.

Do you mean wealthy new trad climber identification? When I was a new trad climber, I had to buy all my stuff piece by piece. Yesterday I realized that most of my nuts are bootied.

- Insists on practice trad falls (especially in forums)
- places no pro in easier section of a climb
- is obsessed with anchors, e-bay and reading accident reports

Ah, I see. That's what this is all about. I'm surprised you haven't posted this in the accident and injury board.

Yeah, it's a stereotype that doesn't always fit reality.

But I've gotta tell you, I *love* the fact that in climbing, if I'm using older beat up equipment it's not assumed that I suck. Quite on the contrary - the guy who shows up at the crag with the most beat up looking rack is the guy everyone watches to see if he's going to be a superstar.

You take a ski lesson with an older pair of skis and boots, the instructor will treat you like a retarded hillbilly who can't tell a mogul from a turnip!

GO

Hey now thats pretty funny. I did feel ackward after I bought a set of FCU's. All shinny.
I don't know about ski instructors, but I love that when I get on the ski lift I'm practically a celeb. All the kids get a kick out of my old straight skis.
