Built-in poop tube optional.

I wonder how the harness shorts stand up to repeated washing. Alternatively, I wonder how bad they would stink if I wash them as often as I wash my harness...

I also always wondered why the pair of mammut pants that I picked up on clearance at Sierra trading post had what looked like a haul loop in the back... now I know, they were a prototype for harness pants, they are just missing the rest of the harness.

And for only the low, low price of only $199.95...sounds like money well spent?

Hopefully that's what every new climber thinks when they see a leader tying into his pair of board shorts.

Awesome design though.

Actually, come to think of it- when you rest on the rope, will that expose your crotch to anybody above you? That's hott. :P

I have been informed by a kiteboarder that shorts with built-in harness have existed in kiteboarding for years. Still, losing your kite doesn't strike me as seriously as decking..The shorts look trim and comfy, but I don't see how all the thick elements of a harness could be under there. Kind of like wearing your briefs over your Carharts.

I was trying to imagine how these would work out on a week-long climbing trip in the middle of summer. I'm not opposed to getting two or three days out of a pair of shorts, but you need to wash them eventually.

Common washing directions for a harness are hand-washing in cool to lukewarm water with a mild soap, then line-drying out of the sun. At just $200 a pop, I guess you could buy a couple and rotate.

May seem weird but that's just because what we're not used to generally does. A pair of shorts with a wide attachment area to webbing is essentially a bosun's chair with legs. I'd be wiling to bet that it's actually stronger than the average harness. However, I wouldn't pay $200 for a harness plus shorts, nor for a bosun's chair plus legs. Great concept, wrong price point.

It says they are washable in water up to 40 C. They also look like a great way to get out of belaying for a day. "what's that? You want me to belay? Can't dude, my harness doesn't have a belay loop and I don't feel safe tri loading my belay biner"

the part that makes the least sense is all the loose strings around the tie-in point... seriously? none of the testers experienced and inconvenience with that?

This reminds me of some kind of secret spy gadget to escape a mission by rappelling... But seems useless when rock climbing.
