Hi all,
I just moved away from the states and am based in Istanbul. I might have some time in my hands in the coming months and might wanna travel to climb but I will 99% have no partner. As I have not climbed in Europe much, I don't know what areas are good for meeting people to climb with. I am into both sport and trad, single and multi pitch. Right now, I am looking for mainly the summer months but for future reference you can tell me of other areas (that are too hot now).
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I will be in Turkey and traveling through Istanbul onto Olympos (and possibly go to Kalymnos) towards the end of August for a few weeks. Would you be interested in meeting up for some climbing?

I do both trad and sport but will only have helmet and harness with me. I heard the sport climbing around Olympos is pretty good.

Send me a PM

Hey guys
I am not exactly looking for partners right now as I don't know if/when I am going to be able to go anywhere - I am just trying to get info about areas in case I decide to go somewhere last minute. But I'll keep these in mind.

Dave, Olympos has really nice sport climbing but I won't go there in August - it is really hot though one can probably climb in shade...

kalymnos - endless opportunities to climb - all sport - really nice locals - great food - easy to meet people - you can put adds up for partner in both climbing shops - friend came down from instanbul when i was there in may - fly to bodrum - get a real early flight as only one boat per day to kos from bodrum at 9.30 - then boat from kos to kaly - sounds long winded - but u can do it in less that a day and ul see its worth it when u get there -

Hey Olive,

Are you interested in bouldering as well? Pretty easy to find a partner because if you dont find any, you can still climb on your own:)

I would prefer roped climbing, sport or trad. I am not much of a boulderer (I kinda suck at it :)), though I would do that too.. Just not my first preference.

Hey Olive, I'm moving to Hungary/Serbia January 20th through July 7th and would love to sport/trad with you. I'm not sure if I should lug a rope over but am going to bring my draws etc. at least. I'm climbing 5.10/5.11+ but i don't know how that translates to the European ratings...
