Just moved to the northeast and am escaping new York for a day clipping bolts this Saturday. It looks like the website that mountain project links to is down, so I'm wondering if anyone has any trip tips?
Anyone heading out there this weekend?
Is there parking even though you park at a dead end?
Will police shoot on site?
Etc

There is always a lot of people out there if the weather is good. The north side has a big parking lot. Don't know about the southern access. Avoid the x marked holds and wear a helmet. No issues with police unless they use the shooting range i geuss?

It looks like his weekend is the annual "clean and climb" so there will be lots of folks around to point you to climbs or answer any questions. You will likely be coming from 422 and parking here in gravel lot.

Cross the creek using the cables and follow the road. when the road dead ends into the creek, head down and right to cross another set of cables. From there you will head back up left to where the road would have continued, winding around right past a concrete building (one section is the outhouse). The trail heads up and then past a sign and the bolt fund donation box. The first area you hit is the main wall. See the PDF here for routes.

Thanks for the responses, we are definitely there Saturday, assuming the weather is okay and we get a rental car worked out!
I guess I'm climbing in a helmet again!

You do understand that this area is probably not worth three hours drive? Not to put you off, but unless you have other reasons to be nearby, there must be better options. If you haven't been to the Gunks, it's only an hour north of NYC, and although purely trad, even toproping there would be more fun. If you've got all weekend and really need to clip bolts, you could go to Rumney.

Just don't want you to be disappointed, if that website comes back up, you'll see the motto is something like "Ugly, chipped, glued, bolted to 5.14" and that's what the affectionate locals say about it. On the other hand, the Climb and Clean weekend is usually a lot of fun, maybe see you there.

I was thinking the same, but there often seems to to be folks making long trips in from MD/NY/NJ.

Only have a day and want to clip some bolts. There are lots of fine places to top rope around NYC, but the people I'm with want to go clip bolts as do I.
Also, anything is better than being in the city every weekend. The drive alone is worth it for me.

Also might tack on a trip to Philly on our way back. If we had an open Friday and Saturday I would make Rumney happen, but we don't

Also its only a 2 1/2 hour drive. Everything I climbed in nc was at least that far, if not much more. NE people get spoiled by there short drives!

I guess we just don't appreciate what's so close. I drive the three hours to the Gunks more often than the 20 minutes to Birdsboro.

Enjoy

My suggestions:

Consider Safeharbor, it's a little farther but may be worth it.
If you go to Birdsboro wear a helmet.
The best climbs I found were all the way around to the right end.
